Learn to jump start your car the safe way
Dead Vehicle battery? You’ll need some jump leads and a second vehicle.
- Make sure the vehicles are parked close enough together so that the jump leads can reach from one battery to the other.
- Have good vehicle engine running.
- Connect the positive (+) cable from the good vehicle to the positive (+) terminal on the dead battery.
- Connect the negative (-) cable from the good vehivle to the negative (-) terminal on the dead battery.
- Try to start the dead car. If it doesn’t start, wait a few minutes and try again.
- Once “Dead” car is running, disconnect the leads Negative (-) 1st.
If you are using a Battery jump pack and not a donor car. Remember to connect the positive terminal (+) 1st and when the dead car is running remove the Negative terminal (-) 1st.
